When it comes to the lovely town of Mostar, Sadrvan is one of the best restaurants around.

This restaurant is situated in the heart of the Old Town, in No 11, Jusovina Street, very close to Stari Most, which is the iconic bridge of the town.

The first detail I noticed about this restaurant was its charming garden which is a splash of green in the middle of the town. The garden shelters a beautiful terrace which offers a lovely view of the narrow streets of the Old Town.

While we were admiring the garden, a few young women dressed in Bosnian traditional costumes warmly welcomed us and urged us to enjoy the lovely atmosphere of Sadrvan. The traditional and authentic scenery and their hospitality finally convinced us to stay.

The interior of the restaurant is also decorated in a traditional style. The traditional objects used to embellish the interior of the restaurant and the old furniture create a very rustic atmosphere.

However, the main reason I strongly recommend Sadrvan Restaurant is the delicious local food which you can try there. The menu offers a selection of high quality local dishes and drinks.

In case you want to experience a real culinary feast, you should definitely try the plates which combine several Bosnian specialties.

It goes without saying that the service was impeccable and the staff was friendly and gave us good recommendations.  For example, we were so excited when we saw the menu and in our euphoria we wanted to try quite a few specialties, but the staff kindly told us that the plates included a large amount of food and that it would be a pity to waste it. Even though we really appreciated and followed the advice, it was indeed too much food.

As a souvenir after you pay the bill, you will receive a nice postcard with the image of the staff standing in front of the restaurant. This simple gesture made me appreciate this place even more.

To conclude, Sadrvan Restaurant means delicious food, an impeccable service, a lovely scenery and a great atmosphere. I strongly recommend this place in case you want to enjoy a great meal.

As a tourist, you should not leave the small Bosnian town of Mostar without admiring the bridge from the minaret of Koski Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque.This religious edifice is the place which offers the most beautiful view of this bridge, which is considered the symbol of the entire town.

Built in 1617, on the bank of the Neretva river, the iconic Koski Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque is the second biggest in Mostar and one of the most beautiful in the entire country.

Its simple and rustic interior seems to be untouched by the hands of time.

In order to enjoy the breathtaking image of Stari Most and of the entire town, you should get to the minaret of the mosque. Built from hewn limestone, the minaret is a tall and slender tower which is used to call believers to prayer.

I must confess that I felt a little uncomfortable to climb the narrow spiral staircase which led to the minaret, but when I got to the top and I saw the image of Stari Most, I was simply speechless.

In case you decide to visit the mosque you should know that you have to pay an entrance fee, but I assure you that this fee is definitely worth the money.

Koski Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque is surrounded by a beautiful small garden where you can relax and take a walk in a lovely atmosphere. You should definitely spend at least a few minutes there to fully enjoy that feeling of peace.

Even with this itinerary in my mind, I allowed myself to be spontaneous and just out of the blue I added another place to my trip list. This decision was more than inspired because I discovered an incredibly beautiful place, situated 40 kilometers away from Mostar.

The name of this place is Kravice Waterfalls and it is a range of spectacular natural waterfalls formed along the Trebizat river. This Bosnian jewel is considered one of the largest waterfalls in the country and also the most impressive one.It takes only a few minutes to get from the car park to the waterfall itself.

Hidden somewhere in the middle of nature, this 25- meter high waterfall consists of over a dozen gushing springs which occupy a semicircular area of 120 meters. The base of the waterfall looks like a natural swimming pool and makes the tourists long to bathe in its clear green water.

The entire area is actually a place where both the tourists and the locals can relax in a peaceful atmosphere. Swimming, sunbathing, enjoying a drink at one of the terraces or simply admiring the lovely image of the waterfalls are just a few of the activities you can check there.

Even if the natural beauty of this place has been preserved, I think that the few cafes and restaurants, that have been built there, spoil a bit its authenticity. In case you want to spend a few days right in the middle of this jewel, you should know that there are places for camping.

All things considered, Kravice Waterfalls is definitely worth visiting and you should add it to your trip list in case you are going to visit Mostar.

Has it ever happened to you to see one picture of a place and fall in love with it? It has happened to me a few times. Last time when a picture had such an effect on me was during my trip to Montenegro. While I was studying the offers of a local travel agency, I saw a picture of Stari Most, which is a lovely Ottoman bridge, built in the 16^th century.

The bridge is considered the symbol of the small Bosnian town of Mostar and also one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the entire country. That moment I knew that I had to plan a trip to Mostar and take a walk on that lovely old bridge.

This year I made my wish come true and I have visited Mostar and its lovely Stari Most, which is a real example of Balkan Islamic architecture. The bridge is built over the Neretva river and it connects the two parts of the town.Even if the original bridge was destroyed in 1993, during the Croat-Bosniak war, it was rebuilt in 2004, as a faithful copy of the original one.

Stari Most is that type of place which has a breathtaking appearance. Walking on the bridge will offer you the chance to admire a wonderful view and also witness a show that takes place there. A few times a day, divers jump off the bridge to the delight of the spectators.

As a travel advice, you should definitely not leave Mostar without admiring the bridge from the top of Koski Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque. The picture which convinced me to visit Mostar was taken here.

One of the most famous places in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the small town of Mostar, a place which won its fame thanks to Stari Most, a lovely old bridge. Connecting the two parts of the town and built over the Neretva river, the bridge has a special charm and it is considered the symbol of the entire town.

The breathtaking image of this bridge is one of the reasons the tourists choose to visit Mostar. I must confess that I decided to visit Mostar, after I have admired a picture of this lovely bridge.

The truth is that besides this bridge, the town doesn’t have too much to offer. It’s a common small town, with a simple architecture where the traces of the last war can still be noticed on the walls of some buildings.

However, there are a few other places in Mostar which really deserve to be visited. The entire old part of the town is a beautiful area where the tourists can enjoy a lot of cafes, restaurants and shops.

Whether you choose to take a walk on its narrow cobblestone streets or rest at one of the terraces from where you can admire the lovely bridge, both options are perfect in case you want to relax in a special atmosphere.

The mysterious Koski Mehmed Pasha’s Mosque is the place from where you can admire the most beautiful view of the famous old bridge. Built in 1617, on a rocky bank of the Neretva river, the mosque is simple, but at the same time really beautiful and it is blessed with a rustic appearance. You should go up the stairs and get to the minaret in case you want to admire the famous breathtaking image of the bridge.

Karadoz-bey Mosque is another beautiful religious edifice which was built in an Islamic architectural style and which deserves to be visited.

Biscevic’s House, Muslibegovic’s House or Kajtaz’s House are a few old and beautiful buildings that the tourists can admire in Mostar.

Another interesting place is Hamam, a very old Turkish bath, built in the 16^th century, which is situated very close to Stari Most.

Mostar also hosts the Museum of Herzegovina or the Memorial Museum which is located in a rustic memorial house. This museum displays a collection of items and objects which show the cultural-historical heritage of Mostar and Herzegovina. In front of the museum there is a cemetery dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives in the war which led to the breakup of Yugoslavia.

Even if it seems that there are not too many beautiful attractions in Mostar, with the exception of the lovely Stari Most, my advice is to spend at least a couple of days in this town. The reason is that besides the tourist attractions I have already talked about, there are also other beautiful places situated in the area of Mostar. I would like to mention only three of them, which in my opinion really deserve to be visited.

First of them is Tekija, an old Muslim monastery situated in the village of Blagaj, at about 12 kilometers away from Mostar. The image of this monastery which seems to float on the green water of the river and which is surrounded by mountains is simply incredible.

Pocitelj, an old Ottoman fortress situated on top of a mountain, is another place which deserves your attention. If you consider that the effort of climbing the mountain is too much for you, you should at least stop for a second and admire the fortress from the foot of the mountain. The fortress is situated at about 30 kilometers away from Mostar, on the way to Kravice, which is the last attraction I recommend in the area.

Situated 40 kilometers away from Mostar, Kravice Waterfall is considered a Bosnian jewel thanks to its beauty.

To conclude, in order to live an unforgettable experience in Mostar, make sure you will also add these lovely places to your trip itinerary. Mostar might not be a fairytale town, but if you carefully plan your trip there, it will be a memorable one.
