Montenegro charms its tourists with amazing beaches, beautiful fortified towns, picturesque villages and spectacular landscapes. Situated on the Adriatic coast, Budva is a part of this country which will give you the opportunity to enjoy a bit of all these wonders of Montenegro. This old settlement is actually the most famous holiday resort in Montenegro.

As far as I’m concerned Budva is not a spectacular holiday resort, so you shouldn’t have high expectations if you choose to spend a few days there. There is not much to do in Budva with the exception of the evening walks in the old town and the shopping activities.

However, one of the reasons why Budva is so appreciated by tourists is its strategic position. It is situated close enough to the most important tourist attractions in the country. From this point of view, Budva is a perfect destination.

I strongly advise you to plan a trip to Budva and in case you want to have a memorable travel experience there, you should take into account the following tips:

1.Make sure you will have a car at your disposal. If are going to travel by plane, you should definitely rent a car. Quite a few famous tourist attractions are situated close to Budva and it would be a pity not to visit them. It is true that you can take a guided tour, but in my opinion you should organize your trips on your own, in order to fully enjoy the beauty of the places you are going to visit. Another reason I recommend this is the fact that it’s very easy to get to the main tourist attractions in the area. This way you will not only enjoy the liberty of planning your daily trips, but you will also save some money.

2.Whatever you choose to visit in the area of Budva, make sure you will not miss the gorgeous Sveti Stefan Peninsula and the spectacular Bay of Kotor. In my opinion the perfect place to admire the beauty of the bay is the fortified town of Kotor. These places will give you the chance to enjoy breathtaking landscapes.

3.Read about the most beautiful beaches in the area and make sure you add them on your trip list. The beaches hosted by the holiday resort of Budva are not so beautiful, but you will find spectacular beaches in the surroundings. My favorite three beaches near Budva are Sveti Stefan Beach, Trsteno Beach and Zanjice Beach.

4.Budva is situated relatively close to the border with Croatia. This is the reason I recommend a trip to Dubrovnik, which is considered the most famous and beautiful town in Croatia. The Pearl of the Adriatic Sea, as Dubrovnik is called, is located at about 90 kilometers from Budva. Do you know that the epic series “Game of Thrones” was filmed in this fortified town?

5.In my opinion food is an important aspect when you travel. Many times it’s a matter of luck to choose the right restaurant, especially if you want to enjoy delicious local dishes. On this note, I would like to give you a hand and recommend Fish Express Budva and Babaluu Café Restaurant which is located in TQ Plaza. Fish Express will offer excellent fish dishes, while Babaluu will give you the chance to taste delicious meat specialties, salads and pasta. When it comes to dessert, the delicious Budva pancakes are the perfect choice. There are quite a few places in Budva where you can find these pancakes.

All things considered, even if Budva is not a spectacular resort, it will be the perfect choice in case you want to have a taste of Montenegro.

Somewhere in the heart of Montenegro, the high mountains and the lovely sea seem to blend together in a harmonious way, creating the overwhelming panorama of the Bay of Kotor.

Situated in a secluded area of the bay, the town with the same name is a perfect choice in case you want to spend a few days in an amazing location.  Kotor is actually the most famous town in Montenegro thanks to its beauty and position. Built in a labyrinth system of narrow cobblestone streets, this fortified town is one of the oldest in the area.

It seems that the past has perfectly blended with the present and this fusion has given the town that special touch of mystery.

The architectural style still displays a powerful Venetian influence, especially in the old part of the town. It’s obvious why since Kotor was under the Venetian influence for almost 400 years. The Venice of Montenegro, the way Kotor is called, is blessed with beautiful old buildings, churches, palaces, squares and museums.

Once you enter the beautiful Sea Gate, you can admire the lovely Arms Square, St. Tryphon’s Cathedral, the Clock Tower and also the small St. Luke’s Square with St. Nicholas’ Church and St. Luke’s Church.

The town of Kotor is also associated with Dubrovnik thanks to its lovely walls and this is why it’s also called Mini-Dubrovnik. These impressive walls are very famous and a lot of tourists choose to follow the path near the walls and climb the 1350 stairs in order to visit the lovely St. John’s Castle.

It is true that the road to the castle is a difficult one, but it’s definitely worth the effort.Once you reach the top you can visit the castle and also admire the spectacular panorama over the Bay of Kotor.

Less known but equally interesting is the fact that Kotor hosts hundreds of cats and that it is full of meters of laundry. Don’t be amazed if everywhere you look you will see cats and laundry which flutter in the wrought iron balconies! These aspects give Kotor a very personal touch.

So, if you want to admire the beauty of the entire area, don’t hesitate and book a flight to Kotor.

Montenegro is one of the countries which are still blessed with a variety of natural places. Such a place is the gorgeous Zanjice Beach. Situated in the lovely Lustica Peninsula, Zanjice Beach is the most visited beach in the area. It is true that you have to drive through the mountains for about an hour in order to discover this oasis of peace, but I can assure you that your effort will be fully rewarded.

Firstly, on your way to the beach you will have the chance to admire some beautiful mountains and their wonderful landscapes.  Secondly, when you reach the beach you will be impressed with its natural beauty. A 300 meters pebbled beach washed away by an incredible greenish water will display its beauty in front of your eyes. Surrounded by high mountains, Zanjice Beach is the perfect place to relax.

The beach has all the necessary facilities from restaurants, bars, chaises lounges to the possibility to rent a boat or a ski jet. An important aspect is the fact that you will also have the opportunity to take a boat tour in case you want to visit the Blue Cave, the Mamula Islet and the town of Herceg-Novi. These three places are among the most famous and visited ones in the Lustica Peninsula.

Situated in the region of Donji-Grbalj, this beach is easily accessible because it is located near Budva, the most famous and appreciated holiday resort in Montenegro. The beach is part of a small bay hidden between a few wooded mountains.

An interesting aspect about the Montenegrin beaches is the fact that they are actually pebbled beaches and Trsteno Beach is one of the few sandy beaches on the Adriatic coast.

The aspect that significantly contributes to the idyllic appearance of the beach is the color of the water. The combination between the clear blue and the green of the water is absolutely amazing.

Another important aspect about this beach is the fact that it’s equipped with sunbeds, showers and changing cabins. There is also a restaurant and a café bar in case you would like to have something to eat or drink.

If I had to take into account this aspect and also my latest travel experience, I would choose to talk about Sveti Stefan Beach.  Situated in the small peninsula with the same name, this lovely Montenegrin beach is a real delight for the tourists. The scenery is incredibly beautiful and it will give you a feeling of inner peace just by looking at it.  A long stretch of pink pebbles which seems to be guarded by a few asymmetric cliffs is washed away by the crystal blue water. Beyond this lovely image, there is much more to say about Sveti Stefan Beach.

I am talking about that refinement that can be felt all around the beach thanks to its distinguished appearance. The image of Aman Sveti Stefan Resort contributes to the really beautiful panorama of the entire place. This luxurious resort is connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus which divides the beach in two halves. You might get the feeling that there are two beaches when there is only one in fact. I recommend the right side of the beach because the scenery is incredible and you can also have the opportunity to take a walk on the high cliff that borders the beach. The landscapes you can admire from the top of that cliff are simply breathtaking.

When it comes to pleasant ways of spending your summer what can be better than let yourself caressed by the sun on a beautiful beach? On this note, I made a list of my favorite three beaches in Montenegro.I am talking about Trsteno Beach, Sveti Stefan Beach and Zanjice Beach.

An important detail is that all of them are located near Budva, the most famous Montenegrin holiday resort situated on the Adriatic coast.

1.Trsteno Beach is the first beach that impressed me with its idyllic appearance. I was fascinated by the clear water, the fine sand and the lovely mountains that surround this small piece of land. Situated in the region of Donji-Grbalj, at about a 10 minute drive from Budva, this lovely beach seems to be guarded by the beautiful wooded mountains. Even if Trsteno Beach is only 100 meters long, it is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Montenegrin coast.

2.Sveti Stefan Beach is another Montenegrin jewel situated in the small peninsula of Sveti Stefan, at about a 15 minute drive from Budva. The beach lies on both sides of the narrow isthmus that makes the connection between the mainland and the famous resort Aman Sveti Stefan. My advice is to choose the right side of Sveti Stafen Beach because the scenery is more impressive. A stretch of pink pebbles washed away by the crystal blue water will be lying in front of your eyes. The entire scenery is embellished by a few asymmetric cliffs and by the lovely image of Aman Sveti Stefan Resort. Refinement is in my opinion the word that perfectly describes Sveti Stefan Beach thanks to its distinguished appearance. I must say that Sveti Stefan Beach is my favorite beach in the area of Budva.

3.Zanjice Beach is the most famous beach in the lovely Lustica Peninsula, the place where you can visit the Blue Cave, the famous Mamula Islet and the town of Herceg Novi. This beach is a little farther from Budva, at about one hour drive, but it’s definitely worth the effort. The clear greenish water which washes away the shore is the most important aspect of this beach. The 300 meters long beach is naturally covered with a multitude of pebbles of different sizes and it is surrounded by beautiful olive groves and by a variety of dwarf plants. This lovely scenery will give you the feeling that you are in the middle of an oasis of peace.

All things considered, you should definitely choose these three lovely beaches if you are planning a trip in the area of Budva, on the beautiful coast of the Adriatic Sea.
