A small stretch of white sand surrounded by high limestone cliffs is washed away by the crystal blue waters.

The symbol of the beach is the wrecked ship which has been lying on this piece of land for decades. The legend that surrounds this shipwreck is still debated on. According to the legend this shipwreck is actually a Scottish ship, called the Panagiotis.

One version of the legend says that the Panagiotis was a famous ship belonging to the cigarette smugglers and to the Italian mafia which wrecked in 1980, while it was followed by the Greek coast guard. It is said that the entire crew vanished into thin air.

Another version of the legend says that the Minister of tourism brought the wreck of the Panagiotis on the shore of Navagio Beach on purpose. It is believed that the ship wrecked in a totally different place and that it was brought to the shore as a marketing strategy meant to increase the popularity of the beach.

Whatever side of the story you choose to believe, the truth is that Navagio Beach is a much more popular place due to this interesting shipwreck.

For example, one of the beaches that I think about with great pleasure is Navagio Beach. Situated in Greece, on the coast of Zakynthos Island, this beach is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. It is enough to see one picture of this beach to realize why it is so famous. The lovely white sand and the clear blue waters surrounded by limestone cliffs make Navagio Beach a real piece of heaven.

This place is also called the Shipwreck Beach because right in the middle of the beach the tourists can admire a wrecked ship which, according to the local legend, belonged to smugglers.  Navagio is a small beach but the feeling you get after spending a few hours there, is absolutely breathtaking.

If you have the intention of spending your holiday in Zakynthos ,this is a place you should not miss, because in my opinion Navagio Beach is the symbol of this island. It is an impressive beach with white sand, surrounded by limestone cliffs and clear blue waters. The color of the water is an incredible blue and it will definitely fascinate you.

Although Navagio is a small beach and you can get there only by boat, it is worth the effort, because you will have the chance to discover a very special place, which will give you a feeling of relaxation, delight, joy, peace and energy .Right in the middle of the beach there is the symbol of this place, the wrecked ship, which makes this place unique. It is believed that this wreckage was actually a smugglers ‘ship and this is the reason why the beach is also called the Smugglers’ cove.

There are several options you can choose from, if you would like to get to Navagio Beach. You can do an island tour by ship and in this way you will see all those amazing landscapes with crystalline water, the Blue Caves, the rock profile of the sea god Poseidon and also Navagio Beach.

If you would like to spend a little more time on this beach, I advise you to rent a small boat, so you can organize your time the way you want .Another way to get there is to travel by car to Porto Vromi, the nearest place, and from there you can continue by boat. How you get there is a matter of choice, but you should definitely visit this corner of heaven.

The thing that will complete your experience in this place is the spectacular landscape of Navagio Beach seen from the top of the rocks. You cannot miss this image, it is one of those breathtaking views and it is easy to get there by car.

If you love extreme sports it is important to know that there is a base jumping, which will give the chance to combine relaxation with entertainment. All things considered, you have a lot of reasons to add this place on your ‘’must- see” list.
