The south of Italy hosts with pride a lot of lovely regions which are really appreciated by tourists, regions where the authentic Italian lifestyle can be experienced.
Thanks to its lovely tourist attractions, its gorgeous landscapes and beaches and its picturesque towns, the region of Puglia is a perfect example in this regard.
During my visit to this part of Italy I discovered a lot of beautiful and interesting places. One of them is Polignano a Mare, a small town which seems to be unspoiled by all the changes of the modern world. Beyond its authentic and rustic aspect, Polignano a Mare is blessed with a few lovely beaches.
One of them is Lama Monachile Beach, a piece of heaven situated a few steps away from the center of this lovely town. The official name of the beach is actually Cala Porto Beach, but everybody knows it as Lama Monachile Beach. The name comes from the bridge the tourists must cross in order to reach the beach.
The panoramic view that can be admired from the bridge is simply spectacular. A stretch of clear emerald water washes away the beach, whose sand is actually replaced by a multitude of white and colored pebbles.
Nestled between two high cliffs which are asymmetrically carved by the water, Lama Monachile Beach looks like a hidden bay.
The beach is considered a jewel and it was awarded a Blue Flag, an international distinction and also 4 Sails of Legambiente, which is an Italian distinction.
You should know that the beach is easily accessible and you can find everything you might need in the shops, the restaurants and the cafes which are situated nearby.
Polignano a Mare is a perfect destination in case you would like to experience the Italian lifestyle, to admire picturesque landscapes and also to relax. On this note, you should definitely add Lama Monachile Beach on your list.
